north Cumbria. Highly recommended - we are Stones Barn
Addicts. Amongst the tempting things on offer are some
wonderful singing courses, suitable for all levels of
experience and all levels of confidence! As well as
learning a lot, you'll also have fun, eat extremely
well(!), and meet some really great people.

superb singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist and truly
inspirational singing teacher. Abbie teaches on many of
Maddy Prior's singing courses at Stones Barn.

Festivals, folk clubs etc:
- Bothy Folk Club:
long-established folk club in Southport, Merseyside. It's
an excellent, friendly club, which is well worth a visit
if you are in the area on a Sunday evening (8 pm). You
can usually catch us there, as we're on the team of
residents at the club.
- Stepping Stones Festival: Maddy Prior's festival in Brampton,
Cumbria, 5-6 May 2012.
- Saddleworth Folk Festival: great festival near Oldham (sadly not
happening in 2011).
- Lymm Folk Club:
near Warrington, Cheshire (Thursdays, 8:30 pm).
- Foc's'le Folk Club: in Southampton, Hampshire (Fridays).
- Topic Folk Club: in Bradford, West Yorkshire (Thursdays).
- Gregson Lane Folk Club: in Lancashire (alternate Thursdays).
More Musicians:
- Look Out!: To
mark the centenary in April 2012 of the sinking of RMS
Titanic, three Southampton songwriters - Brian Hooper,
Barry Wake and Jeff Henry - have collaborated in a
production of song, music and spoken word called Look
Out! Performed by the "White Star Line-Up", it
tells of the devastating and lasting effect on the city
and people of Southampton. See the show and/or buy the
CD. Highly recommended!
- Barry Wake:
brilliant songwriter/guitarist from Southampton, and
occasional collaborator with us in the trio Nelsons
Wake. As a duo, we perform quite a few of Barry's songs.
- Brian Heywood:
ex-member of The Cluster of Nuts Band; now
involved in a variety of musical projects.
- MoonDance:
ceilidh band based in the south of England, featuring our
old Cluster of Nuts cohorts.
- Arnie Cottrell: singer, guitarist and mandolin player 'par
excellence' and a former colleague from The New St
George and Midnight Flyers.
- Pete Rimmer: has a new CD Donovan Songs (Chris
recorded and produced it and we're both on it). Pete's
interpretation of 13 great songs by Donovan. Pete is also
a member of Gallimaufry
with whom Chris works occasionally as fiddle player
and/or caller.
- Duodecimo:
Manchester-based "a capella chamber choir".
- Southern Lights: excellent "ladies traditional style
dance team", based in Southampton.

long-established magazine. (Siobhan is responsible for

folk resource with emphasis on the north-west of England.
